Bangalore Open Air

Heavy metal music fanatics have been in love with Bangalore Open Air, an annual outdoor festival, since its inception in 2012. During the course of its eight iterations, Bangalore Open Air has included some of the best international metal bands in the world. The festival is held in partnership with Wacken Open Air, which takes place in the hamlet of Wacken in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. Bands like Kreator, Destruction, and Suidakra from Germany, Iced Earth and Inquisition from the United States, Skull Fist from Canada, Dark Tranquility from Sweden, Ihsahn and Leprous from Norway, Belphegor from Austria, Orphaned Land from Israel, Vader from Poland, and Orator from Bangladesh are all on the list.

During its second edition in 2013, the event has also played host to the Indian leg of the worldwide band contest Wacken Metal Battle. The grand prize is a spot on the Wacken Open Air stage. Bangalore Open Air returned in February 2019 for its most recent installment. The event will return for its next installment in April, 2023!
