“India’s premiere international roots music festival featuring folk, indigenous, jazz, reggae, classical, and global music” is how the Jodhpur RIFF (Rajasthan International Folk Festival) has been described. During the month of October, on or around Sharad Poornima, the night of the brightest full moon in north India, the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort plays host to this annual event.
The festival is a combination of free and ticketed daytime performances and club evenings, and features over 350 young and renowned performers from Rajasthan, India, and around the world every year. Since its inception in 2007, the Jodhpur Rajasthan International Folk Festival has featured the performances of more than 900 performers and ensembles from more than 30 nations.
Lakha Khan, Vikku Vinayakram, Shubha Mudgal, Manu Chao, Wouter Kellerman, and Jeff Lang are just a few of the legends who have performed at the festival in the past. Rock royalty and Chief Patron Maharaja Gaj Singh II of Marwar-Jodhpur The Mehrangarh Museum Trust organizes the annual Jodhpur Rajasthan International Folk Festival, and Mick Jagger serves as the festival’s international patron. In 2020 and 2021, the event was canceled because of the pandemic, however it was rescheduled for 2022. New for 2023, the event has set its dates for October 26-30.
