The second day of the Mahindra Blues Festival, nestled in the heart of Mumbai’s Bandra, was a testament to the timeless allure of blues music. Unlike the electrifying energy of the opening day, this evening took on a more relaxed ambiance, inviting attendees to unwind, savor their drinks, and let the melodies carry them away. We missed the act of Megan Murry but the feedback we got was great for the audience
A Harmonious Start
The open stage on the lush lawns set the tone with an inspiring performance by a high school choir group. Their harmonious voices, brimming with youthful exuberance, captivated the audience and created an atmosphere of pure joy.
Queen of Blues, Ruthie Foster
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the action moved to the enclosed stage hall, where the queen of Blues herself, Ruthie Foster, took center stage. Performing her iconic track “Mileage,” Ruthie Foster left the crowd spellbound. For many, including myself, listening to Ruthie for the second time was an unparalleled treat. Her powerful voice and soul-stirring rendition were reminiscent of the legendary Aretha Franklin, making it feel as though we were in the presence of greatness.
The Randolph Band’s Electrifying Performance
The big stage later came alive with the dynamic performance of The Randolph Band. Known for their robust and distinctive style, they brought their unique version of blues to the forefront. With the masterful use of the slide guitar, the band’s sound leaned towards blues rock, electrifying the crowd and keeping everyone on their feet.
Memorable Encounters
The evening also provided the perfect opportunity for fans to connect with their favorite artists. Meeting the Teskey Brothers, as well as the bassist and drummer of Ruthie Foster’s band, was a highlight. We even managed to snap a few cherished photos with these talented musicians. As the evening drew to a close and we made our way out, we had the pleasure of bumping into the Voice of the Mahindra Blues Festival, Mr. Bryan Telis too.
Conclusion
Overall, the second day of the Mahindra Blues Show was a delightful blend of soulful performances, meaningful connections, and an atmosphere that celebrated the essence of blues music. It was an evening that left a lasting impression on all who attended, a testament to the enduring magic of the Mahindra Blues Festival.
