India’s celebrated playback singer Shreya Ghoshal has taken a significant step beyond the recording booth by creating her own world-class creative space, The Sanctuary, a purpose-built audio-visual studio in Mumbai powered by Genelec’s renowned professional monitoring systems. Designed as a collaborative hub for musicians, producers, filmmakers and creators, the studio reflects Ghoshal’s vision of combining technical excellence with a calm and inspiring creative environment.
Located in Santacruz West, Mumbai, The Sanctuary was conceived after Ghoshal’s experience of working from a home studio during the pandemic. Ghoshal worked closely with her father Bishwajit Ghoshal, acclaimed studio designers Munro Acoustics, and studio engineer Chinmay Harshe.
At the heart of The Sanctuary is a high-performance Genelec monitoring ecosystem. After extensive listening sessions, the team selected Genelec’s 1238DF Smart Active Monitors as the primary midfield speakers, paired with the 7370A Smart Active subwoofer. The system is calibrated using Genelec’s GLM Loudspeaker Manager software, ensuring accurate room correction and consistent monitoring across the studio. For nearfield reference, the facility also employs Genelec’s 8030C RAW monitors.
