Anubha Bajaj – Singer, Songwriter, and Music Producer

Anubha Bajaj is a singer, songwriter, and music producer who has carved her own path in the musAnubha Bajaj – Singer, Songwriter, and Music Produceric industry through sheer passion and self-learning. From a young age, she was captivated by music and knew it was the only career she wanted to pursue. Without any formal training, she turned to YouTube as her mentor, learning everything from composition to production. Her journey took flight when she started sharing her creations on social media, where her unique sound and style quickly gained recognition.

Starting from a small storage room in her house, which she transformed into a personal music studio, Anubha experimented with songwriting and production. It was in this intimate space that she crafted her breakthrough song, Savera, a track that solidified her identity as an artist. From the very beginning, she was deeply involved in every aspect of music creation—mixing, composing, and producing her own sound. However, it was Lamhey that changed the trajectory of her career, going viral and marking her arrival as a rising star in the industry.

With a deep appreciation for independent music, Anubha has primarily focused on creating and sharing her work online, rather than venturing into film or web series projects. Social media has played a pivotal role in her journey, allowing her to reach audiences without traditional industry backing. She acknowledges the challenges of being a female music producer in a field where women are still underrepresented, often facing scepticism.

However, she views this as an opportunity to break barriers and redefine perceptions.
In line with her passion for breaking barriers, Anubha is excited about the launch of KOLAB HER MUSIC CAMP 2025, an initiative by IPRS & Sony Publishing News aimed at empowering female music creators. The program is designed to provide a collaborative platform for women in music to learn, create, and explore new opportunities in the industry. By bringing together female songwriters, composers, and producers from diverse backgrounds, KOLAB HER MUSIC CAMP 2025 seeks to bridge the gender gap in music production and foster an environment of growth and creativity. Anubha believes that initiatives like this are crucial in shaping a more inclusive industry, offering women the resources and recognition they deserve.

RAGA2ROCK met up with Anubha Bajaj for a chat.

R2R: Anubha, tell us about your journey into music.
Anubha Bajaj: Since childhood, I was sure I wanted to pursue music. It was never a question of ‘if’ but ‘how.’ I didn’t have formal training or a mentor, so I turned to YouTube. That was my only source of learning—I studied everything from songwriting to production through online tutorials. At some point, I started making my own music and posting it online, and that’s how people started noticing me. Social media became my stage, and that’s what gave me my break.

R2R: You mentioned that you started your journey in a small room in your house. How did that space shape your music?
Anubha Bajaj: Yes, it was a mini storage room that I converted into a small studio. That space was everything to me—it was where I experimented, wrote, and produced music. It was magic. My song Savera was created in that room, and it holds a special place in my journey. It’s amazing to see how everything has turned out today, but I still look back at that room as the place where it all began.

R2R: Lamhey was a turning point in your career. How did that song impact you?
Anubha Bajaj: Lamhey was the song that changed everything. I was already involved in every aspect of music—mixing, composing, producing—but when Lamhey went viral, it opened so many doors for me. I had just started making reels at the time, and the response was overwhelming. It made me realize the power of digital platforms in giving independent artists like me a space to grow.

R2R: You’ve largely focused on independent music. Have you considered working on film or web series projects?
Anubha Bajaj: I haven’t really worked on a film or a web show yet. I just focus on making music and posting it on social media. It’s what I love the most—the creative process. I don’t think too much about where the music will go; I just create. But after hearing so many different experiences from women in music, I realize there’s still a lot to learn, and maybe I’ll explore that space in the future.

R2R: As a female music producer, do you feel there are challenges in the industry?
Anubha Bajaj: Absolutely. There are still very few women who do full-time music production. I feel like people sometimes have this perspective of ‘how is she doing it?’ as if it’s something unusual. But I take that as a sign that we need more representation. The industry is changing, and I want to be part of that change.

R2R: What are your thoughts on KOLAB HER MUSIC CAMP 2025 by IPRS & Sony Publishing News?
Anubha Bajaj: I think it’s an incredible initiative. It’s so important to create opportunities for female music creators, and KOLAB HER MUSIC CAMP 2025 is doing exactly that. Bringing together women from different backgrounds and experiences to collaborate and learn from each other is something we really need in this industry. I’m excited to see how this platform will help more women step into music production, songwriting, and beyond. It’s a step towards breaking stereotypes and showing that women belong in every part of the music process.

R2R: What’s next for you?
Anubha Bajaj: I just want to keep creating. Whether it’s independent music, collaborations, or exploring new sounds, I want to stay true to my art. I think the best thing about music is that it never stops evolving, and I want to keep growing with it.
