Horus Music Reaffirms Commitment to Protecting Artist Rights Amidst AI Licensing Deals

Following the news of ElevenLabs’ launch of Eleven Music, backed by licensing partnerships with Merlin and Kobalt, Horus Music today rearms its commitment to never compromise the rights of its clients by allowing their music to be used in AI training without their explicit permission.

As the music industry moves quickly to embrace AI technologies, some companies have begun negotiating broad licensing agreements that allow artificial intelligence platforms to train on and generate music derived from the work of independent artists and songwriters. Horus Music takes a fundamentally different approach: protecting its clients’ catalogues first and ensuring that artists remain in control of how their music is used.

“Artists should never be signed up to AI deals by proxy. While others rush into licensing agreements that give away vast amounts of creative data, we stand firm: no client of Horus Music will have their work fed into an AI system without their full knowledge and consent. Protecting creativity and ownership sits at the core of what we do.”
— Nick Dunn, CEO and Founder of Horus Music

Founded in 2006, Horus Music has always championed fair and transparent distribution, publishing, and label services for artists worldwide. The company stresses that while AI may play a role in the future of the music ecosystem, it must not come at the expense of creators’ rights.

Horus Music’s position arrives at a critical moment, as the industry watches the legal and ethical debates surrounding AI intensify. With lawsuits already emerging against some AI platforms over alleged copyright infringement, Horus Music believes that long-term sustainability for AI in music depends on artist first principles rather than blanket licensing.

Commenting on this further, CEO and Founder, Nick Dunn, added:
Technology can open doors, but it should never strip artists of their choices. Independent musicians, songwriters, and labels trust us with their livelihoods. That trust means we should not allow their work to be absorbed into AI models without permission. Our stance is simple: rights belong to the creators.
