At the tender age of 13, Rego B, a global sensation and the youngest Indian artist, has created an album filled with chart-topping hits.
With the blessings of his late grandfather, the Disco King Shri Bappi Lahiri, Rego recently launched another song titled “PERFECT” as part of his album.
What makes this album truly unique is that it consists entirely of cover versions of global chartbusters—a concept introduced by Rego, making him the first and only singer in India to do so. Accompanied by a live band, this young rock star is determined to put India on the global map.
Rego’s passion for music knows no bounds, and he confidently embraces the limelight. With his striking resemblance to his musical maestro grandfather, Shri Bappi Lahiri, it’s undeniable that Rego B, also known as Swastik Bansal, has inherited a remarkable talent. The prodigious young artist burst onto the Indian music scene with his single “Bachcha Party,” which garnered over 5 million views.
He also made notable appearances alongside his grandfather on popular shows such as Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss, Sa Re Ga Ma, Dance India Dance with Madhuri Dixit Nene, and Indian Idol, where he paid tribute to his grandfather by performing “Disco Dancer.”
Rego’s musical journey began at the tender age of two, and he attributes his interest in Western and classical music to his grandfather’s influence.
Despite being a student, Rego B effortlessly juggles his studies with his passion for music. While he acknowledges the challenges, he believes the sacrifices are worth it when music is one’s true calling.
Hailing from a family deeply rooted in music, Rego started his musical training at the age of two under the guidance of his mother and grandfather.
Additionally, he is currently studying music at RSL Rock Music of London and receiving professional training from renowned singer and music coach Yvie Burnett, who has coached artists like Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran, as well as Samantha, another esteemed vocal coach.
Passionate about acting, Rego showcases his versatility as a multilingual singer. He can effortlessly sing in seven languages, including Italian, Spanish, English, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, and even rap. His cover of “Despacito” in Spanish stands as a testament to his linguistic prowess.
Rego’s repertoire extends beyond contemporary hits, as he also captivates audiences with his renditions of Bhajans, Slokas, Ganesh Vandans, and the Hanuman Chalisa. Among his Bollywood favorites are acclaimed artists like Arijit Singh, Badshah, and Raftaar.
Since the age of four, Rego has been performing live on stage alongside his grandfather, Bappi Lahiri. Apart from his popular track “Bachcha Party,” he has showcased his exceptional vocals in songs like “Football is My Dream” (2018), “Kal Chutti Hai” (2021), and many more.
As the torchbearer of a musical legacy, Rego represents the fourth generation of musicians in the esteemed Lahiri family, following the footsteps of his great-grandparents Bansari Lahiri (the First Lady musician), Bappi Lahiri, Rema and Bappa Lahiri.
While he remains dedicated to his academic pursuits, Rego has made a solemn vow to bring pride to his family and his country through his music. Despite his young age, he has his sights set on musical domination, following in the legendary footsteps of his grandfather.
