Rego B, a 13-year-old global sensation, has made history as the youngest Indian artist to create an album filled with global chartbusters. With the blessings of his late grandfather, the iconic Disco King Shri Bappi Lahiri, Rego has launched another captivating song titled “PEACHES” as part of his remarkable album. This concept of covering renowned international chart-toppers sets him apart as the first and only singer in India to embark on such a unique musical endeavor.
Shot alongside a live band, Rego, the youngest rock star of India, is determined to put his country on the global music map. “No one has ever released an album full of legendary music icons like Justin Bieber, Freddie Mercury, Adele, Stevie Wonder, Charlie Puth, Bruno Mars, The Beatles, Bryan Adams, and many other globally renowned artists’ songs. I am thrilled to be doing it. I believe my grandfather is watching over me and blessing me for the good work I am doing today,” Rego passionately shares.
Not camera shy in the least, Rego fearlessly welcomes any questions thrown his way. The exceptionally talented young artist, also known as Swastik Bansal, bears an uncanny resemblance to his late music maestro grandfather, Shri Bappi Lahiri. At just thirteen years old, Rego burst onto the Indian music scene with his single “Bachcha Party,” which garnered over 5 million views. He also confidently appeared alongside his grandfather on popular shows like Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss, Sa Re Ga Ma, Dance India Dance with Madhuri Dixit Nene, and Indian Idol, where he paid tribute to his grandfather by performing “Disco Dancer.” Rego’s musical journey began at the tender age of two, and he credits his grandfather for igniting his interest in Western and classical music.
Balancing his studies with his music career, Rego, a student and both a national and international star, admits that it can be challenging. However, he firmly believes that the effort is worthwhile when music is one’s passion.
Born into a family of musicians, Rego commenced his music training at the age of two under the guidance of his mother and grandfather. Currently, he is studying music at RSL Rock Music of London and receiving professional training from renowned singer and music coach Yvie Burnett, who has worked with artists like Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran. Rego is also coached by Samantha, who has trained celebrated global singers.
Beyond his remarkable vocal abilities, Rego showcases his acting skills and fluency in seven languages: Italian, Spanish, English, Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, and rap. He even covered the popular song “Despacito” in Spanish.
Rego’s repertoire extends to singing Bhajans, Slokas, Ganesh Vandans, and the Hanuman Chalisa. Among his Bollywood favorites are Arijit Singh, Badshah, and Raftaar.
From the age of four, Rego has been captivating audiences with live performances alongside his grandfather, Bappi Lahiri. In addition to “Bachcha Party,” he has lent his outstanding vocals to songs like “Football is My Dream” (2018), “Kal Chutti Hai” (2021), and many more.
As the fourth generation of musicians in the Lahiri family, Rego is carrying the musical legacy forward. His great-grandparents Bansari Lahiri, the First Lady musician, Bappi Lahiri, Rema, and Bappa Lahiri have paved the way, and now it’s Rego’s turn to shine.
