“THESE KIDS” – NEW RELEASE

In October 2004, just before Joel Turner’s 18th birthday, he was best known as the beatboxer discovered while auditioning for the first season of Australian Idol in 2003.

At the time, few knew he was also a singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist. That all changed when “These Kids” was released in October 2004 through Idol judge Mark Holden’s independent label, Dream Dealers, distributed by MGM. The song debuted at #5 on the ARIA charts before quickly climbing to #1, where it remained for seven weeks, earning double platinum status. Joel co-wrote the track with his brother, Tim Turner (aka DubLT) of the Modern Day Poets, whose powerful rap in 2004 resonated with a generation.

Now, in 2024, “These Kids” returns for its 20th anniversary, with a fresh remix by Kiwi DJ Jonathan Schnell, and DubLT delivering an updated rap to retool the iconic groove.
