Motorola Announces Launch of Next-Generation Folding Flip Smartphone on June 1

Motorola has officially confirmed the upcoming launch of its next-generation folding flip smartphone on June 1. While the company has teased the device on social media, there are speculations about the potential release of two flip phones. However, reports indicate that Motorola is likely to launch a single flip phone with different names for different markets, such as Motorola Razr 40 Ultra or Razr 2023.

Although specific details about the phone’s specifications and design are still under wraps, more information is expected to be unveiled in the coming days. Earlier this year, a leaked image of the purported Motorola Razr 2023 (also potentially known as Razr 40 Ultra) surfaced, revealing a slimmer form factor compared to its predecessor. The leaked image showcased a pink body and two camera sensors on the outer screen, indicating possible improvements to the viewing area.

In terms of processing power, it is anticipated that the new phone will feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, considering the previous Razr flip phone incorporated the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ SoC. Motorola is also expected to enhance the camera system, with the previous model sporting a 50-megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 13-megapixel secondary rear camera with an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 32-megapixel front camera.

While recent Motorola flip phone models were primarily released in China, the company’s global handle has now announced the launch of the 2023 models. Although an official announcement for the Indian market is yet to be made, it is likely that Motorola will eventually bring its new flip phone to India, as many other smartphone manufacturers have turned to the country to expand their presence in the folding smartphone segment.

Folding flip smartphones have gained popularity in recent times, with Oppo entering the segment with its Oppo Find N Flip. Samsung has already launched three generations of Galaxy Z Flip phones, with the Z Flip 4 and Flip 5 on the horizon. Tecno also introduced its most affordable foldable smartphone in India last month.

Motorola previously launched the original Razr in India in 2020, priced at Rs 1,24,999. While it is still listed on the Motorola India website at the same price, it is currently out of stock. If Motorola plans to release a new flip phone in India, it might opt for the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra. Additionally, the company is gearing up to launch the Motorola Edge 40 in India later this month, and the price of the new flip phone may be adjusted to compete with other brands offering similar devices in the Rs 80,000 range.
